Star Garnet is one of the rarest forms of garnet in gems. These are so rare that they are only found in two places across the globe i.e. India and Idaho in the US. They are opaque and brownish red or reddish black in color. Rutile causes the star effect and the needles must be in the correct alignment to reflect the light pattern. Idaho is so proud of the gem that is has been declared as the gemstone of the state. The Star Garnet is associated with Aquarius and is a January month stone.
